YPG/PKK captures eastern Syrian town from Daesh

The YPG/PKK terrorist group has taken control of a town -- with support of U.S.-led coalition -- from Daesh terrorists in eastern Syria, according to local sources on Monday.

The YPG/PKK captured Shiifa town in Deir ez-Zor province, where it intensified its attacks with coalition’s air coverage in the last week, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Daesh only has control of Suse and Bagoz towns in the province on Iraqi border.

Earlier, the YPG/PKK occupied rural areas in Deir ez-Zor’s east, west and north with the support of the U.S., in the west of the Euphrates River.

On Sept. 11, 2018, the terror group started attacks with U.S.’s air support and France’s ground support to clear Deir ez-Zor completely from Daesh.

Two days after occupying Hajin’s center, Daesh’s last stronghold in the province, they also occupied town the center of Buhatir on Dec. 26, 2018.

Daesh’s presence in Deir ez-Zor is only limited to its eastern rural areas of Suse and Bagoz. The area west of the Euphrates River is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The terror group YPG/PKK has occupied almost one-third of Syria’s lands.
