SANAA, Yemen

At least five people were killed and 13 others wounded in US airstrikes Sunday in the western outskirts of Yemen's capital, the Houthi-run Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The casualties were the result of three raids that targeted the Al-Sawari Ceramics Factory in Bani Matar District of Sanaa, the statement said, without providing further details.

Separately, the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV channel reported two US airstrikes targeting al-Yatmah in the Khabb wa ash Sha'af District of al-Jawf Governorate in northern Yemen. No casualties were reported.

The US has yet to comment on the Houthi reports.

US President Donald Trump said last month that he ordered “decisive and powerful military action” against the Houthis and later threatened to “completely annihilate them.”

The Houthis have targeted ships in the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden since November 2023 in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has killed over 50,900 people in a brutal onslaught.

The group halted attacks when a ceasefire in Gaza was declared in January between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas but resumed them after Israel renewed airstrikes on the enclave last month.
