US State Department OKs possible military sales to UAE, Jordan, Kuwait amid Iran war

WASHINGTON

The US State Department on Thursday approved possible military sales to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan amid military operations against Iran.

The department said it made a determination approving the possible sales of F-16 munitions and upgrades, radar systems, Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) and related equipment to the UAE for more than $8.4 billion.

It also approved a possible sale to Kuwait for Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor Radars for an estimated cost of $8 billion.

The department approved a possible sale of aircraft and munitions support and related equipment to Jordan for an estimated cost of $70.5 million.

The agency said it delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the possible sale Thursday.
