President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha during his official visit to Qatar, part of a three-nation Gulf tour.

Following his visit to Kuwait, Erdogan arrived in the Qatari capital Doha on Tuesday for an official visit at the invitation of the emir.

The one-on-one meeting between Erdogan and Al Thani was held behind closed doors at the Amiri Diwan in Doha.

Following the meeting, the delegations of Türkiye and Qatar signed a series of bilateral agreements.

According to a Turkish Communications Directorate statement, Erdogan and Al Thani co-chaired the 11th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee.

“The meeting addressed Türkiye-Qatar relations as well as regional and global matters,” said the statement.

“President Erdogan stated that Türkiye aims to enhance further its excellent relations with Qatar, which currently (shows) progress at an outstanding level in areas such as military cooperation, the defense industry, energy, trade, and investments,” it added.

Erdogan underlined that the Türkiye-Qatar strategic partnership makes significant contributions to regional and global stability. He also said that the recently established ceasefire in Gaza has provided much-needed relief to Palestinians, and reaffirmed that a two-state solution remains the only viable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, noting that efforts toward this goal will continue, according to the statement.

“President Erdogan stated that Türkiye will support Syria’s recovery process and that cooperation with Qatar will proceed in all Syria-related areas, including energy, transportation, and humanitarian assistance,” said the directorate.

Türkiye and Qatar enjoy strong relations built on deep political, economic, and defense cooperation.

Most recently, Türkiye and Qatar worked together to support peace efforts and humanitarian initiatives in Gaza.

After the meeting, Erdogan left Qatar for Oman, the final stop on his three-day Gulf tour.
