An American Embassy security guard was injured during an attack, the embassy said Saturday.
It described in a brief statement on its website the injury of the security guard as light, noting that the attack took place on Thursday.
The assailant, the embassy added, had been taken into custody.
It did not, however, provide further details about the attack or the identity of the attacker.
The embassy noted that the overall security situation in Qatar remained unchanged, but it advised American nationals to practice caution and avoid being part of large gatherings.
Around 15,000 American nationals live in Qatar.
Qatari authorities have not officially commented on the attack yet.
