Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday condemned Israel’s attack in the Qatari capital Doha that targeted Hamas members, saying it violated international law and Qatar’s sovereignty.

“Israel’s attack on Hamas negotiation delegation in Qatar has once again clearly demonstrated the blind rage of the (Benjamin) Netanyahu government, and its intent to deepen conflict and instability," Erdogan said on social media.

Türkiye stands with Palestinians and its ally, friend and strategic partner Qatar, with all its means, Erdogan said, adding that those who make terrorism a state policy will never succeed.

“We will stand firm against Israel’s reckless acts dragging the region into disaster and continue defending peace, international law, and the freedom of the Palestinian people at all costs,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Israel's military said it conducted a "precise strike targeting the senior leadership" of the Palestinian group.

Qatar condemned the "cowardly" attack, saying the strike targeted residential buildings that housed members of Hamas’s political bureau.

The Gulf state, along with the US and Egypt, has been playing a central in efforts to mediate an end to Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed more than 64,000 Palestinians since October 2023.
