Turkish chief of staff meets Syrian president in Damascus

ISTANBUL

Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu was received by Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara during an official visit to the capital Damascus on Friday.

Bayraktaroglu, accompanied by Deputy Chief of General Staff Gen. Levent Ergun, also held talks with Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra and Chief of General Staff Ali Noureddine al-Naasan as part of his visit, the Turkish Defense Ministry posted on US social media company X.

Later, Bayraktaroglu inspected the Türkiye-Syria joint operations center.

As part of his program in Syria, Bayraktaroglu also met with Türkiye’s ambassador in Damascus, Burhan Koroglu, and the Turkish military attache and toured the Syrian Revolution Military Fair.
