Syrian Army downs SDF drones targeting civilian homes in northern Aleppo

ISTANBUL

The Syrian Defense Ministry said Monday evening that the army had shot down drones used by the terror group YPG/SDF in an attempt to target civilian homes in the vicinity of the city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in the northern Aleppo countryside.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted the Defense Ministry’s Media and Communications Department as saying that “army forces managed to down several suicide and reconnaissance drones belonging to the SDF.”

The department confirmed that the SDF had attempted, through the drones, “to target roads and residents’ homes in the vicinity of Ayn al-Arab in the Aleppo countryside.”

The assault came despite the extension of a ceasefire between the Syrian government and the SDF by 15 days.

On Sunday, the Syrian Army accused the SDF of violating the ceasefire deal by targeting army deployment positions around the Ayn al-Arab area in northern Syria.
