Saudi Arabia and Qatar said Saturday that their air defense systems intercepted drones and ballistic missiles launched from Iran.

A spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense said Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed four drones in the Eastern Region, according to several ministry statements.

The ministry also said Saudi air defense systems intercepted and destroyed six ballistic missiles that were launched toward Al-Kharj governorate in central Saudi Arabia.

Separately, the Qatari Ministry of Defense said the country had been subjected to an attack involving four ballistic missiles and a number of drones launched from Iran.

The ministry said Qatari armed forces successfully intercepted all the drones and countered the four ballistic missiles targeting the country.

No casualties or damage were reported.

The attacks come as regional tensions have flared since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it says are targeting “US military assets.”
