ANKARA

Qatar announced on Friday the success of its mediation efforts to reunite a new group of children with their families in Russia and Ukraine.

In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said the reunion of the new group of children with their families in the two countries is part "of its ongoing efforts to reunite families separated due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine."

The ministry also posted photos of children reuniting with their families on its official website, though it did not specify the number of children on either side.

The statement said Qatar's efforts to reunite children from both countries with their families "reflect its unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles and international solidarity."

After the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out in February 2022, Qatar was able to reunite dozens of children with their families in Russia and Ukraine.
