Pan-Islamic grouping rejects plans for Palestinian displacement
OIC calls plans to resettle Palestinians ‘blatant violation of international law’

ANKARA
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday rejected plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from Gaza.
US President Donald Trump on Saturday called to “just clean out” the Gaza Strip and resettle Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt, describing the enclave as a "demolition site."
Israel’s genocidal war on the territory since Oct. 7, 2023 has killed more than 47,000 Palestinians and left the blockaded enclave in ruins.
These plans constitute "a blatant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions," the pan-Islamic organization said in a statement.
It renewed its call for the “full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, the adequate delivery of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip, and assistance for displaced people to return to their homes."
The Jeddah-based grouping emphasized the need to enable the Palestinian government to assume its responsibilities in maintaining the unity of Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
It also called for "implementing emergency relief, economic recovery, and reconstruction programs" for Palestinians and reaffirmed “unwavering support for the Palestinian people's right to their land and holy sites."
The OIC called on the international community to assume its responsibility for implementing the two-state solution to end the decades-long Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
Trump’s proposal came a week after the Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement in Gaza took effect. Egypt and Jordan have also rejected the resettlement plan.
