A Palestinian man was shot and injured by Israeli troops in the southern West Bank, an Anadolu Agency correspondent based in the area reported Thursday.

The injured man, who has yet to be identified, was reportedly taking part in a protest to condemn the death earlier Thursday of a Palestinian woman at the hands of a Jewish settler.

The woman was reportedly run over by the settler in the town of Tuqu, located 12 kilometers southeast of Bethlehem.

The incident sparked a demonstration outside the town, which Israeli troops reportedly dispersed with teargas, rubber bullets and live ammunition.

Roughly 600,000 Israeli settlers live on 250 Jewish-only settlements built across the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967.
