Over 42,000 civilian structures damaged in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran
36,489 residential units, 6,179 commercial facilities sustained damage so far, says Iranian Red Crescent Society
ISTANBUL
More than 42,000 civilian structures have been damaged in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran since the start of the war late last month, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said Saturday.
In a statement on Telegram, the society said 42,914 civilian buildings have sustained damage so far, including 36,489 residential units and 6,179 commercial facilities.
The data showed that around 10,000 of the damaged homes are located in the capital, Tehran, which has been among the areas heavily hit by the strikes.
Since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, killing some 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hostilities have escalated.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
