BEIRUT, Lebanon 

A Lebanese civilian plane crashed on Wednesday in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of the Byblos region, north of the capital Beirut.

The official Lebanese National News Agency said a plane belonging to Aeroclub of Lebanon crashed into the sea off the coast of the Byblos region as it was flying near the Halat area.

No information is yet available about casualties.

Civil defense teams rushed to the scene to rescue survivors.

There was no comment yet from Lebanese authorities on the report.
