The Lebanese army took over an underground Hezbollah military complex in southern Lebanon, local media said on Wednesday.

Images published by the Al-Jadeed news channel showed underground tunnels containing military vehicles, missile launching platforms, and ammunition manufacturing equipment.

The channel said the underground complex is located between the towns of Wadi Jilou and Jouaiyya in southern Lebanon.

On Tuesday evening, social media activists circulated footage of Lebanese army personnel inspecting the underground facility south of the Litani River.

The activists suggested that the facility was the "Imad 4,” which Hezbollah had introduced in August last year during the course of cross-border fighting with Israel.

There was no comment from the Lebanese army or Hezbollah on the report.

A fragile cease-fire has been in place since Nov. 27, ending a period of mutual shelling between Israel and Hezbollah that began on Oct. 8, 2023 and escalated into a full-scale conflict on Sept. 23 last year.

Data from the Lebanese Health Ministry indicated that since Israel’s onslaught against Lebanon began on Oct. 8, 2023, at least 4,080 people were killed, including women, children, and health workers, and 16,753 others injured.
