Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi strongly condemned Israel’s “inhumane aggression” against Gaza in phone calls with European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.

The officials discussed the dire situation in Gaza, stressing the need for an immediate cease-fire and the urgent, sustainable delivery of aid to all areas of the Palestinian enclave, Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday in a statement on X.

''This genocide must end. World is allowing Israeli govt. to take 2.3 million Gazans hostage to its vengeful, racist, supremacist, colonialist war & agenda,” Safadi said on X.

He warned of the consequences of the continued absence of a clear international stance in condemning the aggression in Gaza, demanding its immediate cessation, the ministry statement added.

Israel resumed its military offensive on the Palestinian territory on Friday after the end of a weeklong humanitarian pause with the Palestinian group Hamas.

At least 16,248 Palestinians have been killed and more than 43,616 others wounded in relentless air and ground attacks on the enclave since Oct. 7 following a cross-border attack by Hamas.

The Israeli death toll in the Hamas attack stood at 1,200, according to official figures.
