Jordan downs drug-laden drone from Syria in 9th incident this year
Jordan has seen hundreds of attempts to smuggle drugs from war-torn Syria in recent years

AMMAN, Jordan
Jordan shot down a drug-laden drone from Syria on Monday, the ninth such incident this year, according to the military.
In a statement, the army said a drone carrying crystal meth was intercepted after illegally crossing the country’s border from Syria.
Last month, the Jordanian army shot down three drones carrying narcotics from Syria.
Jordan shares a 375-km porous border with war-torn Syria.
The country has seen hundreds of attempts to smuggle drugs in recent years as a result of the deteriorating security conditions in neighboring Syria.
Jordan had intercepted nine drug-laden drones from its next-door neighbor since the start of this year.
