Israeli jets strike Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon amid cross-border attacks

JERUSALEM

The Israeli army carried out airstrikes in several areas in southern Lebanon on Monday amid cross-border attacks with Lebanese group Hezbollah.

A military statement said fighter jets struck Hezbollah infrastructure in the towns of Dhayra, Aitaroun, and Odaisseh. An airstrike also targeted a Hezbollah building in Ayta ash-Shab.

The attacks came shortly after Tel Aviv reported a drone attack in an open area in Lower Galilee.

There were no reports yet of casualties.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of weapons fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed over 29,000 people following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last Oct. 7.
