Israeli gov't condemns attack on Anadolu Agency's cameraman
Government Press Office says freedom of press ‘sacred value of Israeli democracy’
The Israeli government on Thursday condemned an attack on an Anadolu Agency’s cameraman in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli Government Press Office (GPO) said in a tweet that it “strongly condemns the attack against Anadolu Agency’s cameraman Fayz Abu Rumaila yesterday.”
The GPO stated: “Freedom of the press is a sacred value of Israeli democracy.”
On Wednesday, extremist Jews beat up Rumaila while he was waiting in front of the Assaf Harofeh Hospital where Palestinian prisoner Hisham Abu Hawwash is admitted for treatment.
Abu Hawwash agreed to end his open-ended hunger strike on Tuesday after reaching a deal for his release. Hawwash had staged a hunger strike for over 141 days to protest his arrest without trial under Israel’s policy of administrative detention.
