Israeli security forces shot and killed a Palestinian and injured two others in separate incidents Tuesday in the northern West Bank and East Jerusalem, Palestinian sources reported.

The Palestinian news agency, Wafa, said police fatally shot a 41-year-old man near al-Eizariya, in East Jerusalem. The unidentified victim was hit by gunfire, transferred to a hospital and was later pronounced dead, per the agency.

There have been no details about the circumstances of the shooting.

Separately, WAFA cited local sources who said Israeli special forces infiltrated Deir Ghazaleh in eastern Jenin in the northern West Bank, and opened fire on two young men inside a vehicle.

The sources added that Israeli troops blocked ambulances from reaching the wounded while deploying military reinforcements to the village. The agency reported that Israeli forces arrested Raed Tawalbeh, his wife and their son, Jihad, after surrounding a house in Deir Ghazaleh.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its crews received two gunshot victims from Israeli forces at the Jalameh checkpoint in northern Jenin.

One suffered a live-round wound to the thigh, the other to the lower back, and both were transported to a hospital, it said.

The incidents came as Israel has continued a deadly military offensive in the northern West Bank since January, killing tens of Palestinians and displacing thousands.

Tension has been running high across the occupied West Bank, where at least 939 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of the onslaught on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The International Court of Justice declared last July that Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
