Israeli army warns of imminent strikes on buildings in Lebanon’s Tyre
Army claims buildings were being used by Lebanese group Hezbollah
ISTANBUL
The Israeli army on Saturday issued a warning of impending strikes on several buildings in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre.
Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee published a map on the US social media company X showing three buildings marked in red in the Zuqaq al-Mafdi area of Tyre.
Adraee said the buildings would be targeted shortly, urging residents and those in the vicinity to move at least 300 meters away from the marked locations.
He claimed that the buildings were being used by the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
The developments came amid Israel’s expanding military campaign in Lebanon since Monday, following limited rocket fire by Hezbollah amid broader regional tensions linked to the war waged by Israel and the US against Iran.
Israel had killed more than 4,000 people and wounded around 17,000 during an offensive in Lebanon that began in October 2023 and escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024.
Despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah since November 2024, Israel has continued near-daily violations that have left hundreds dead and wounded.
