An Israeli airstrike struck the Sainte Therese area in Beirut’s southern suburbs on Monday following a renewed evacuation warning, Lebanese media reported.

No information was yet available about casualties in the attack, which came shortly after the army ordered residents to evacuate the area ahead of attacks.

Israeli drones also flew over Baabda, Hadath, and other parts of the southern suburbs, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Israel has expanded its attacks in Lebanon since Monday, following limited rocket fire by Hezbollah amid broader regional tensions linked to the war launched by Israel and the US against Iran.

Regional tensions escalated last week when the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, killing more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.

The escalation spilled over to Lebanon, with Israel and the Hezbollah group exchanging cross-border attacks, leaving nearly 400 people dead and displacing thousands, according to Lebanese figures.
