ISTANBUL

Israeli fighter jets struck on Friday military infrastructure in southwestern Iran, the military said.

“A short while ago, the IAF struck surface-to-air missile batteries in southwestern Iran,” the military said in a statement.

Separately, the Israeli army spokesman reported that “during the night, Israeli Air Force aircraft identified three surface-to-surface missile launchers prepared to fire toward Israel.”

He alleged that “the launchers were destroyed, thus preventing a barrage that was planned for the early morning.”

“A drone identified an Iranian military squad on the move, including a Revolutionary Guards base commander in western Iran responsible for 15 launchers, on their way to carry out a strike. The squad was attacked and eliminated,” added the army statement.

Hostilities broke out June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on several sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.

Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.

Meanwhile, in Iran, 639 people have been killed and more than 1,300 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to Iranian media reports.
