RAMALLAH, Palestine

Two Palestinians were injured and several others were detained early Thursday after the Israeli army raided cities and towns in the occupied West Bank

The army stormed the Balata refugee camp near the city of Nablus, raiding several homes, witnesses told Anadolu.

Military bulldozers excavated streets and infrastructure within the camp, amid exchanges of gunfire and explosions, they added.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that it had provided medical treatment to two injuries.

Other witnesses told Anadolu that the army raided the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp, destroyed the Martyrs Square, and arrested two Palestinians.

Confrontations erupted between Palestinians and the Israeli army in Ramallah when the army used live fire and tear gas bombs in an operation lasting several hours, according to local sources.

The army arrested at least one Palestinian during the operation.

The Israeli army also stormed houses and shops in the town of Beit Rima west of Ramallah, according to witnesses.

The army arrested 10 Palestinians, including a woman, during the operation, witnesses added.

The army also carried out other incursions into the West Bank, notably in the city of Tulkarem, its refugee camp, and towns in the southern district of Hebron.

Tensions have been running high across the occupied territory since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip following an Oct. 7 Hamas attack which killed some 1,200 people.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice over its deadly onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which has left more than 29,300 people dead.

In an interim ruling in January, the Hague-based court ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
