Israeli army kills 2 Palestinians in Gaza in new ceasefire violation
At least 242 Palestinians killed, 620 others injured by Israeli fire since ceasefire, according to Gaza’s government media office
JERUSALEM / ISTANBUL
The Israeli army killed two Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Friday, in a new violation of a ceasefire agreement in place since last month.
An Israeli military statement said its forces shot dead a Palestinian man in southern Gaza for allegedly crossing the “yellow line,” a buffer zone separating areas under Israeli control from those it withdrew from under the ceasefire that has been in effect since Oct. 10.
A Palestinian woman was also killed in the northern city of Beit Lahia in an area under Israeli army control, Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal said in a statement.
Israeli forces routinely target Palestinians who approach, even without crossing, the “yellow line” in areas where movement is permitted.
According to Gaza’s government media office, the Israeli army killed at least 242 Palestinians and injured 620 others since the ceasefire.
Israel has killed more than 69,000 people, mostly women and children, and injured over 170,000 others in attacks in Gaza since October 2023.
