Israel conducts W. Bank raids; 11 Palestinians detained
Individuals detained for ‘suspected involvement in popular terrorist activities’, army claims
JERUSALEM
The Israeli army detained 11 Palestinians in overnight raids carried out across the occupied West Bank, the army said in a Thursday statement.
According to the army, the individuals were detained for “suspected involvement in popular terrorist activities”.
The statement did not elaborate on the nature of these alleged “activities”.
The Israeli army carries out arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank -- on an almost daily basis -- on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians, including numerous women and children, are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.
