Israel army says its forces detected new missile launches from Iran, defense systems working to intercept
Military urges public to enter protected spaces
ISTANBUL
The Israeli military said Sunday that its forces detected new missile launches from Iran, with defense systems working to intercept the projectiles.
“The IDF (military) identified that a short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel,” it said. “The defense systems are operating to intercept the threat.”
A statement on US social media platform X said the military urged the public to follow guidelines, enter protected spaces upon receiving alerts and remain there until further notice.
Regional escalation has flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack against Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people and injuring more than 10,000, according to Iranian authorities.
Tehran had retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
