Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani targeted in overnight strikes: Israeli Media

ISTANBUL

Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani was targeted in airstrikes carried out by Israel overnight, Israeli media said Tuesday, as Tel Aviv continued a joint offensive with Washington against Tehran.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Larijani, who is the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani were among the targets of the overnight strikes.

The results of the attacks were not yet clear.
Hostilities in the region have escalated since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, so far killing around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
