Qatar on Monday announced the extension of the temporary humanitarian pause in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas for two additional days.

On X, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said Qatar "announces, as part of the ongoing mediation, an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian truce for an additional two days in the Gaza Strip."

Following the announcement, Hamas also confirmed the agreement to extend the temporary humanitarian truce in Gaza for two more days.

"It has been agreed with the brothers in Qatar and Egypt on the extension of the temporary humanitarian truce for an additional two days under the same terms of the former truce," Hamas said in a statement.

Confirmation of the news by Israel has yet to be received.

Qatar helped broker the original four-day deal, which began last Friday.
