Fresh Israeli bombardment kills 40 Palestinians in devastated Gaza
Gaza faces famine as Israel’s war has killed over 62,000 since October 2023

At least 40 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded in new Israeli strikes across the war-torn Gaza Strip on Tuesday, medics said.
In Khan Younis, two Palestinians, including a young girl, were killed when Israeli forces struck a tent sheltering displaced families near the University College, the official news agency Wafa said, citing medical sources.
Four more Palestinians were killed and several others injured following Israeli shelling of a displacement tent in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.
Two more people were killed and 10 others injured in another strike near the Applied Sciences College in al-Mawasi, while another man was shot dead by Israeli fire in the same area.
In central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported receiving five bodies and multiple injured people after a strike on a displacement tent in the al-Bassa area.
Another five people were killed when Israeli forces targeted civilians near the Kissufim site southeast of Deir al-Balah, the hospital added.
In Gaza City, two bodies and 53 wounded people were brought to the Shifa Medical Complex after Israeli shelling hit crowds waiting for aid in the Zikim area.
In the vicinity of the Netzarim Corridor, two Palestinians were killed and others wounded when Israeli forces opened fire on crowds waiting for aid near a US-Israeli distribution center.
Seven Palestinians were killed and others wounded in Rafah — six in an Israeli strike on a tent sheltering displaced people in al-Mawasi area, and a seventh by Israeli gunfire near a food aid distribution center in the northwest of the city.
Overnight, the Israeli army carried out a limited incursion into the Al-Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling that left five people dead.
In northern Gaza, artillery shelling targeted a group of civilians in Jabalia al-Nazla, killing two people.
In Gaza City’s al-Zeitoun neighborhood, four Palestinians were killed and others wounded when Israeli strikes hit two houses.
Israel has killed nearly 62,100 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
