Freedom Flotilla volunteer urges global community to stand with Palestinians
'Demand your government act on your wishes,' emergency nurse from Wales aboard flotilla tells Anadolu

ANKARA
A volunteer aboard the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s “Thousands of Madleens” convoy has called on people around the world to stand with Palestinians as the flotilla continues its journey toward Gaza.
Leigh Evans, an emergency nurse and paramedic from Wales, spoke to Anadolu on Monday from the ship Abd Elkarim Eid.
She said the flotilla’s goal is to open a humanitarian corridor to Gaza and “break the illegal Israeli siege” while delivering aid to those in need.
“My message to the world is rise up, go to Palestine,” Evans said. “If you can’t do it, go to your government. Demand your government act on your wishes. Government belongs to you—you don’t belong to government.”
Led by the ship Conscience, the 11-vessel Freedom Flotilla Coalition sailed off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt, on Sunday and continues its mission across the Mediterranean.
The coalition on Monday said on social media that the flotilla is about 200 miles from Gaza’s shores.
