ISTANBUL
The foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan met in the Iraqi capital Baghdad ahead of an Arab League Summit which Baghdad is set to host on Saturday.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said during a news conference that there is a harmony of the three countries' visions on the Palestine issue, adding they also discussed oil and energy matters.
Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi noted that meeting discussed ways to develop cooperation between the countries, adding the security of the countries as well as the threats they faced are common.
"Our aim is to contribute to the solution of crises in the region," Safadi said, while also calling on the international community to take responsibility for what is happening in Gaza.
He also expressed support for Syria's reconstruction.
"Syria's security is a pillar of security and stability in the region," he said.
Safadi also called for an end to Israel’s attacks on Syria.
Expressing appreciation for Iraq's preparation of the Arab League Summit, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said "the convening of the Arab Summit in Baghdad is evidence of Iraq's stability and security."
"There is no stability in the region without a solution to the Palestinian issue," Abdelatty added.
He said the three countries are also against the forced displacement of the people of Gaza.
"We have gone nearly 70 days without any aid entering Gaza, and this is shameful for the international community," he added.
Baghdad is preparing to host delegations that will attend the 34th summit of the Arab League.
The top priority at the summit will be Israel’s attacks on Palestinian territories, while developments in Lebanon and Syria will also be discussed.
