Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi and Libya’s interim Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh on Thursday discussed ways to enhance cooperation during the transition period in Libya.

According to an Egyptian presidency statement, the meeting in the capital Cairo was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the country’s intelligence chief Abbas Kamel.

It said the meeting reviewed prospects for cooperation between the two counties to support the Libyan side in leading the transition phase.

The two sides agreed to "exchange visits at the level of executive officials and to hold bilateral consultations especially at the level of services to restore security as well as economic cooperation," according to the statement.

This is the Libyan prime minister’s first visit since the country’s rival political groups formed the interim unity government to lead the country to elections this December.
