CAIRO
A car caught fire and exploded after a collision in the center of Egyptian capital Cairo on Monday, according to the Health Ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said a private car and a minibus collided near a main bridge in central Cairo, leaving both vehicles in flames.
According to the ministry, 13 people have been injured in the incident.
Local media earlier quoted a civil defense official as saying a car had exploded after catching fire in central Cairo.
He said the explosion has hit a minibus passing by, leaving both cars in flames.
The official said a faulty battery might have caused the explosion.
Egyptian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
