GAZA CITY, Palestine / ISTANBUL

At least 61 more Palestinians were killed and scores injured as the Israeli army escalated its attacks in the war-torn Gaza Strip on Tuesday, medics said.

A medical source said that 10 people were killed and several others remain unaccounted for after an Israeli strike hit a home in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.

Israeli forces shelled civilians waiting for aid delivery in the Netzarim Corridor and Salah al-Din Street in central Gaza, killing 11 people and injuring over 65 others, another medical source told Anadolu.

Six other people were killed by Israeli shelling of their houses in the town of Al-Zawayda in central Gaza.

Medics said two more people, including a woman, were killed in an attack on a school-turned-shelter in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

Twelve other people were killed in separate strikes on a home and tent sheltering displaced civilians in the southern city of Khan Younis, medics said.

Two more Palestinians were killed when fighter jets struck a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the al-Mawasi area in western Khan Younis.

Three more people lost their lives in an Israeli strike in the same city and a fourth in the Jorat al-Aqqad area in the southern city.

Israeli fire also killed six more aid seekers near a distribution point in northern Rafah in southern Gaza.

Two Palestinians died from wounds they sustained in earlier Israeli strikes in the central and southern Gaza Strip, medical sources said.

A young man also died of severe malnutrition in the southern city of Khan Younis amid an Israeli siege on the enclave, the government media office said.

In Gaza City, an Israeli strike on a group of civilians killed one Palestinian in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood. Bodies of two people killed in previous Israeli attacks were also retrieved in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of the same city.

Two more people were killed by an Israeli drone strike in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City.

According to witnesses, the Israeli army shelled residential buildings in eastern Gaza City and eastern Khan Younis in the south.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has killed more than 56,600 Palestinians in a deadly onslaught in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
