Israeli airstrikes target displaced civilian shelters in Shati camp, as well as Palestinians waiting for aid distribution

ISTANBUL
At least 37 people were killed and several others injured in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip since early Tuesday, medical sources said.
Israeli warplanes struck tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, killing 16 Palestinians and injuring over 25 others, medics said.
According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the victims -- including women and children -- were taken to Shifa Hospital in the same city following the predawn airstrike.
A young Palestinian was also killed when the Israeli army targeted aid seekers in western Gaza City, the medical sources added.
Israeli fighter jets targeted the vicinity of a school-turned-shelter in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, killing four people.
Two young Palestinians were also killed in Israeli strikes in the Ber al-Naaja area in the northern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army opened fire on civilians waiting for aid delivery at a US-backed aid distribution point near the Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip, leaving seven people dead.
The Israeli army also struck the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, killing two siblings.
In the central city of Deir al-Balah, intensified Israeli strikes took the lives of two Palestinians amid ongoing ground offensives in the southern areas of the city.
In southern Gaza, three people were killed by Israeli strikes in Khan Younis.
Israel has killed more than 59,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
