Five Palestinians were injured by Israeli fire during a military raid on Monday in the city of Al-Bireh in the occupied West Bank, medics said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said its crews provided field treatment to two children who were injured by rubber bullets in the Sateh Marhaba area of Al-Bireh.

The organization said medics also dealt with three tear gas–related injuries in the same area, including two young women.

According to witnesses, a large army force stormed the Al-Shurfa neighborhood in Al-Bireh and imposed a siege on residential buildings.

Israeli forces closed the neighborhood entrance and spread throughout its main and side streets before surrounding several buildings and restricting movement, as confrontations broke out, witnesses told Anadolu.

The raid came hours after the Israeli army forcibly evacuated Palestinian families from their homes during a raid in the al-Jabriyat neighborhood adjacent to the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.

Last week, the Israeli army conducted a four-day military operation in the Tubas governorate that included the city, several surrounding villages, and al-Fara’a refugee camp.

The army also staged another raid in the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, where it has imposed a curfew, turned several homes into military outposts, and detained several Palestinians, according to witnesses.

The Israeli army has escalated its attacks in the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.

More than 1,085 Palestinians have since been killed, and 10,700 others injured in attacks by the army and illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied territory. More than 20,500 people have also been arrested.

In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
