RAMALLAH, Palestine / ISTANBUL

At least 13 journalists, including an Anadolu photojournalist, were injured in attacks by Israeli army forces and illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.

Issam al-Rimawi, an Anadolu photojournalist, was hit on his head with a stick by illegal settlers as he was covering settler assaults in Al-Mughayyir village, east of Ramallah in the central West Bank, according to an Anadolu reporter.

The attack caused the photojournalist to lose consciousness, he added.

Rimawi was transferred to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah.

Witnesses said six journalists suffered temporary asphyxiation after Israeli forces used tear gas canisters during a military raid in Nablus in the northern West Bank, and all were hospitalized for medical attention.

Six other reporters were suffocated by tear gas used by Israeli army forces during clashes in the southern city of Bethlehem, local sources said.

Since the start of the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, at least 970 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The International Court of Justice declared last July that Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
