A Lebanese man was injured Saturday in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Kfar Sir in southern Lebanon, marking a new violation of the ceasefire agreement signed about a year ago, the Health Ministry said.

The attack came a day after two people were killed and a third was wounded on Friday in two Israeli airstrikes targeting motorcycles in the southern Nabatieh province.

Tension has mounted along the Lebanese-Israeli border in recent weeks, with Tel Aviv intensifying airstrikes in southern towns, despite the ceasefire that has been in place since late November 2024.

On Friday, Israel’s public broadcaster KAN reported that Tel Aviv was considering escalating its military operations in Lebanon on claims of countering Hezbollah’s efforts to bolster its military capabilities.

The Israeli army has killed more than 4,000 people and injured nearly 17,000 in its attacks on Lebanon, which began in October 2023 and turned into a full-scale offensive in September 2024.

Under the ceasefire, the Israeli army was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon this January, but it only partially pulled out and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
