Weekend wildfires burned more than 10,000 acres in Greece
Most damage seen on southern island of Kythira, says National Observatory of Athens

ATHENS
Three major wildfires have burned some 10,368 acres in various parts of Greece, according to the meteorology service of the National Observatory of Athens.
Analyzing data from the European Copernicus Emergency Management Service, the service said a fire on the southern island of Kythira had destroyed an area of 6,642 acres from Saturday noon to Sunday noon.
Fires also burned 3,165 acres in the Pissona area on the island of Evia and 560 acres in Kryoneri, a southern suburb of Athens, during the same period.
