Volleyball: VakifBank advance to club world cup semis

ISTANBUL 

Turkish women volleyball club VakifBank beat Chinese team Tianjin Bohai Bank 3-0 on Friday to reach semifinals at the 2019 Women's FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship.

Defending world champions defeated Chinese opponent with 15-25, 14-25, 19-25 sets in Pool B game in Shaoxing, China.

Two Turkish and two Italian teams will compete in the semifinals.

VakifBank finished at second place in the Group B to face Group A leader Italy's Imoco Volley on Saturday.

Having won the 2013, 2017 and 2018 championships, VakifBank aim to claim their fourth title in the championship.

In the other semifinal match, Turkey's Eczacibasi VitrA will face Italy's Igor Gorgonzola on Saturday.

Eczacibasi VitrA will be looking for their third gold medal following their victories in 2015 and 2016.

Top two clubs in each group advance to the semifinals of the tournament that will end on Dec. 8.
