Virus claims 33 more lives in Saudi Arabia, 2 in Kuwait

ANKARA

Health authorities in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait confirmed new fatalities and infections from the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, while Qatar recorded only new cases.

In Saudi Arabia, the Health Ministry recorded 33 more deaths and 1,068 new cases over the past day.

The kingdom’s count now stands at 3,755 deaths and 310,836 infections as well as 284,945 recoveries.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Health Ministry registered two fatalities and 698 fresh cases over the past 24 hours.

The Gulf state’s figures now stand at 82,271 confirmed cases, including 521 deaths, and 73,906 recoveries.

In Qatar, 244 infections were registered in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

Qatar's tally of infections rose to 117,742, including 194 fatalities and 114,558 recoveries to date.

Since originating in China last December, the pandemic has claimed over 820,200 lives in 188 countries and regions.

More than 23.93 million cases have been reported worldwide, while over 15.6 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
