US coronavirus death toll at 154, cases above 10,000
Deaths reported in 22 states as infections reported in entire continental US

WASHINGTON
The U.S. has 154 coronavirus deaths, and more than 10,000 cases in the 50 states, according to a study Thursday.
Unofficial figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University show the tally stands at 10,755.
U.S. President Donald Trump issued a national emergency declaration Friday to help combat the spread of the virus known as COVID-19, and issued stringent guidelines Monday for Americans to follow to further reduce the pandemic.
The virus originated in Wuhan, China, in December and has spread to at least 159 countries and territories.
The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a pandemic.
The first death in the U.S. was announced March 1 by Washington state health officials. The deceased, who died Feb. 29, was a female in her 50s.
