US first lady Melania Trump said Friday that she has mild symptoms but is feeling good.

"Thank you for the love you are sending our way. I have mild symptoms but overall feeling good. I am looking forward to a speedy recovery," she said on Twitter.

The White House also confirmed Trump's current state of health with Chief of Staff Mark Meadows telling reporters Trump is experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms as well.

"The president does have mild symptoms, and as we look to try to make sure that not only his health and safety and welfare is good, we continue to look at that for all of the American people," he said. "He continues to be not only in good spirits, but very energetic."

Trump confirmed his and his wife's positive diagnosis early Friday by tweeting: "Tonight, @FLOTUS [US first lady] and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"

His physician, Sean P. Conley, said in a statement that the Trumps are "both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence."
