Ukraine claims control over Urozhaine village in Donetsk region

ISTANBUL

Ukraine early Wednesday claimed that it has retaken control of the village of Urozhaine in the country’s eastern Donetsk region.

“Urozhaine has been liberated. Our defenders are consolidating their positions,” Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said in a statement on Telegram, adding that their offensives are continuing.

In a separate statement, the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that Russia made “unsuccessful attempts” to restore its lost positions near Urozhaine and conducted airstrikes in the region during the past day.

Last month, Ukraine claimed that it recaptured the village of Staromaiorske, west of Urozhaine.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claim, and independent verification of Ukraine’s claims is difficult due to the ongoing war.
