Atletico Madrid beat Liverpool 3-2 Wednesday with a great comeback at Anfield Road to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals.

In the last-16 first leg match, the Spanish La Liga club defeated Liverpool 1-0 in Madrid and eliminated the Premier League side 4-2 on aggregate.

Liverpool made the score 1-0 with Georginio Wijnaldum's goal in the 44th minute and the match went to extra time.

Roberto Firmino doubled the Reds' lead in the 94th minute, but the Madrid club made an epic comeback.

Marcos Llorente's two goals shocked Liverpool and made the score 2-2 in the first half of extra time.

Liverpool could not find net in the rest of the match as a goal by Alvaro Morata secured Atletico Madrid’s place in the quarterfinals with a 3-2 score.
