Türkiye condemns firing on fishing boat by Syrian regime in int'l waters
Firing causes minor injuries to 2 fishermen, material damage to boat, says Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson

ISTANBUL
Türkiye condemned firing on a Turkish fishing boat by Syrian regime forces in international waters, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
“We condemn the firing on the Turkish fishing boat named Mahmutcan-1 … by two ships belonging to the Syrian regime security forces” on Sunday, said a statement by Tanju Bilgic, a spokesperson of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Mahmutcan 1 was sailing in international waters from the Adana Karatas port in southern Türkiye, the statement said, adding that the incident caused minor injuries to two fishermen and material damage to the boat.
Türkiye will follow the incident as an investigation was launched into the incident by the Turkish Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the Samandag district of the southern Hatay province, the statement added.
