Turkish taekwondo athlete dies at 21
Gamze Ozdemir succumbed to lupus disease, says taekwondo federation
ANKARA
Gamze Ozdemir, a Turkish female taekwondo athlete, died of an autoimmune disease on Tuesday. She was 21.
In a statement, the Turkish Taekwondo Federation said Ozdemir passed away battling lupus.
Chairman Metin Sahin offered condolences to her family and friends, as the taekwondo body mourned her loss.
She was laid to rest in the capital Ankara.
