Turkish stocks up at Thursday's open
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index starts day with rise of around 530 points
ANKARA
Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day at 115,843.62 points on Thursday, up 0.46% or 528.64 points.
At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 1.03% to 115,314.98 points, with a daily trading volume of 24.55 billion Turkish liras ($3.58 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.8530 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared to 6.8500 at Wednesday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 7.7220 from 7.7110, while one British pound traded for 8.5880 Turkish liras versus 8.5430 at the previous close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.34 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
