Turkish ambassadors serving both at home and abroad will meet in a hybrid format for the 12th Ambassador Conference scheduled for Nov. 9-10, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

The conference has been organized annually by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2008 in which the ambassadors discuss regional and global developments with participations of senior officials.

"Due to the global pandemic, the Conference will be held in a hybrid format for the first time, where home-based Ambassadors will physically be present at the Presidential Complex while Ambassadors serving abroad will join the event online," said a Foreign Ministry statement.

Highlighting that the conference "plays a central role for the coordination and planning" of the Turkish foreign policy, statement said "a stocktaking of the past year and discussions on the way forward are taken up with a holistic approach."

This year’s theme will be "Turkish Diplomacy at the Centenary of National Sovereignty: From Tradition to the Future."

"This theme reflects the dynamic nature of the at least 500-years-old Turkish diplomacy, which blends continuity and change by virtue of its innovative initiatives while drawing strength from its traditions," said the Foreign Ministry.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will deliver instructions to the ambassadors within the framework of the conference on Nov. 9, followed by a speech by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Nov. 10.
